Forest’s turn for a taste of how Robins has turned Town round

A YEAR ago tonight, Mark Robins was in the crowd as managerless Huddersfield Town upset the odds to knock Leicester City out of the FA Cup.

Two days later, the former Manchester United was being unveiled as the Terriers’ new manager. If Robins did not know then what a huge task he was taking on at the time, he soon did thanks to his first two games ending in 4-1 and 6-1 defeats.

The first of those was against Wigan Athletic, then of the Premier League and destined to lift the Cup, so perhaps understandable. The second, however, did not fall into category as Town crashed to a 6-1 hammering at Nottingham Forest.

All the problems that had been mounting during the final weeks of Simon Grayson’s reign were laid bare and Robins looked to have all on in his quest to keep the club up.

He did just that, though, and this time around there has been genuine progress with Town safely nestled in mid-table and coming into tonight’s meeting with Forest on the back of a morale-boosting 1-0 win over Wigan, which followed a run of four defeats.

Robins said: “We are looking forward to the test and want to pick three more points up.

“The win against Wigan was a real tonic for everyone and Forest is a good opportunity to pit our wits against one of the best teams in the league.

“If we can play anywhere near our capability then we will give them a real good game.”

On hosting Forest, whose last three visits to Huddersfield have ended in 1-1 draws, Robins, who again expects James Vaughan to lead the attack, added: “The reverse fixture (last year) was a tough match, but on home soil I expect a different kind of match, especially coming off the back of a victory.

“Our confidence levels have never dwindled and we will remain focused and have a real go at them.”
