Former Leeds United striker McCormack in new deal with Fulham

The 29-year-old Scotland international will now remain at Craven Cottage until the summer of 2020.

McCormack has scored 18 goals in 36 appearances for the Whites this season and has led the side in the absence of regular captain Scott Parker.

He moved to west London from Leeds United for £11.5million in 2014 and hit 19 goals for Fulham in all competitions last season.

Bolton Wanderers officials will return to the High Court today as they try to push forward with the takeover fronted by former striker Dean Holdsworth.

The Sports Shield consortium, headed by Holdsworth, came to an agreement with long-time owner Eddie Davies to buy the club on Monday just before a judge granted Wanderers another two-week extension to raise funds to pay an outstanding tax bill.

With Bolton having been served with a winding-up order by HM Revenue and Customs over that debt, registrar Clive Jones adjourned the hearing and said more evidence would be examined in the near future, with a different judge now set to analyse Bolton’s case further today.

Press Association Sport also understands that Holdsworth and representatives from Sports Shield will meet with the Football League on the same day as the prospective new owners bid to get Football League approval.

Holdsworth’s group are planning to inject an initial £7.5million into the struggling Sky Bet Championship club, who were one of the Football League’s 12 founder members in 1888.

Carlisle have decided not to appeal against goalkeeper Mark Gillespie’s dismissal during Tuesday night’s Sky Bet League Two defeat at AFC Wimbledon.

Gillespie was sent off five minutes after the break in his side’s 1-0 reverse at the Cherry Red Records Stadium after referee Darren Deadman ruled that he had denied a goalscoring opportunity.
