Free agent Faye set for talks over Leeds United deal

SIMON GRAYSON plans to sit down with Amdy Faye's agent to discuss a possible move to Leeds United.

The 33-year-old Senegal international is a free agent after leaving Stoke City during the summer.

He played for United's reserve side on Tuesday night when a late goal from Ross McCormack rescued a point against Grimsby Town.

Grayson was among the crowd at Blundell Park after being impressed by what he had seen during the few days Faye had spent training with Leeds last week.

The Elland Road chief said: "We will have a chat with his agent and see what happens. That is as far as things go at this stage."

United have been without a specialist defensive midfielder since Michael Doyle returned to Coventry City during the summer after a year on loan in West Yorkshire although Grayson did enquire after Sheffield United's Nick Montgomery and Watford captain John Eustace during the close season.

Grayson, meanwhile, plans to keep monitoring Callum Davenport after the former West Ham defender moved to non-League football to try to improve his fitness after a trial at Leeds.
