Bunn, 23, the son of Town’s senior development boss Frank, was contracted at the John Smith’s Stadium until June 2017, but has now agreed improved terms having impressed new head coach David Wagner.

And the former Borussia Dortmund Under-23 coach says that Bunn’s rise can serve as inspiration to young players seeking to elevate themselves to first-team level at Town.

On Bunn, who has netted 11 times in 52 appearances for Town, Wagner said: “I’m very happy Harry has signed a new contract.

“Hopefully we will have successful years together.

“He is exactly the type of player I like and prefer. He is an offensive-thinking player who likes to work very hard and can work defensively. He is also a good age.”

“Harry is an example to those in the Under-21 team now.

“If you are patient and work hard, you will get a chance here.

“He shows how important the Club’s Under-21s are.”
