HULL CITY are believed to be in the race to sign Cardiff City goalkeeper David MArshall as they step up preparations for their Premier League return.

The Tigers are certainly in the market for a goalkeeper after learning earlier this week that they will be without first-choice Allan McGregor for six months.

McGregor, 34, who missed last season’s Championship play-off final win against Sheffield Wednesday at Wembley due to a back injury, will undergo surgery to correct the ailment, leading to a lengthy time out.

Earlier this year, Cardiff insisted they would only sell the highly-regarded Marshall for £10m, although it is thought Bruce is lining up a £6m bid to test the water.

Leeds United have been linked with Rochdale midfielder Callum Camps, seen as a future prospect and a potential replacement for Lewis Cook, who left last week for Premier League Bournemouth.

Camps, who has represented Northern Ireland at all youth levels, made 36 appearances in all competitions for Rochdale last season, scoring five goals.

Middlesbrough are reported to have concluded an £8m deal for Serbian defender Nevben Subotic from Borussia Dortmund.

The 27-year-old will come in to work under Aitor Karanka on a three-year-deal, once a work permit is approved.

Boro are also close to landing their sixth summer signing with Valencia defender Antonio Barragan due on Teesside for a medical.

The Yorkshire Post understands the 29-year-old is expected to undergo tests within the next 48 hours with a view to completing a move to the Riverside Stadium.

Head coach Aitor Karanka is also trying to tie up an initial loan move for Barragan’s club-mate Alvaro Negredo as he attempts to beef up his attacking options for life in the Barclays Premier League.

Midfielder Dean Whitehead is believed to be attracting interest from Championship rivals, Rotherham United.

The influx of signings under David Wagner at Huddersfield Town means there could be few opportunities for the former Stoke City and Middlesbrough favourite.

Rotherham are also believed to have switched their sights to Millwall striker Lee Gregory, after losing out to Barnsley on Thursday in the race for the signature of Walsall forward Tom Bradshaw.

Sheffield Wednesday are believed to be interested in signing Celtic utility man Charlie Mulgrew.

The Scotland defender’s Celtic contract ran out last month but he has been in negotiations with the Hoops over a new deal.

Oldham Athletic have confirmed the signing of former Sheffield United winger Ryan Flynn on a two-year deal.

The 27 year old, who twice won the FA Youth Cup with Liverpool in 2006 and 2007, had made 193 appearances for United after being brought back to England from Falkirk by Danny Wilson in 2011.
