FT: Charlton 0-1 Huddersfield Town - Terriers pride at bouncing back

The Terriers had not won for 10 games in the league, a sequence that culminated in a 6-1 drubbing at Leicester on New Year’s Day.

They remedied that with victory over their Championship rivals Charlton at the Valley.

Jermaine Beckford scored the only goal of the game on 11 minutes.

Charlton were reduced to 10 men shortly after the hour mark when Dorian Dervite was dismissed for a professional foul, making it easier for Simon Grayson’s side to hold on.

Town’s first team coach Ian Miller said: “We defended manfully especially after the poor showing against Leicester last week.

“There was a determination in the players to put right the wrongs of New Year’s Day. There are ways to lose football matches and we went out with a whimper against Leicester, it was unacceptable.

“In a nutshell we were a team today. Some of the players have lost form, but today they played as a team. We had a number of good individual performances as well and you need that when you play in the Championship because it is an unforgiving league.”
