Grimsby sunk as their hopes go for a burton

Grimsby tumbled out of the Football League after a 3-0 loss at Burton condemned them to relegation from League Two.

The Mariners joined Darlington in dropping out of the League after Burton's Shaun Harrad scored twice following Greg Pearson's opener.

With the automatic promotion places already assured, the race for a play-off place was on.

Garry Hunter scored the only goal as Morecambe leapfrogged Rotherham and Aldershot with victory at home to the Shots.

Morecambe's opponents will be Dagenham who claimed their place in the post-season lottery with a 2-0 win at Darlington, with goals from Jon Nurse and Josh Scott.
