Grimsby v Harrogate - Potential for higher calling is motivation enough for Town

THRILLED though he is by Harrogate Town’s start to life in the EFL, Simon Weaver insists that his team cannot afford to take their eye off the ball when they visit Grimsby this evening.

The Sulphurites occupy League Two’s final play-off berth having won three and drawn two of their opening six matches since promotion.

And, while confidence is understandably high in the camp, Harrogate’s manager is determined that complacency will not prevent his players from building on the solid foundations which they have already laid.

“We’re raring to go, we’re feeling good, but you don’t want to get carried away at all,” Weaver said.

“You can’t afford to because you know that these next two games are big games to possibly cement us in the top-seven, maybe even the top-three.

“We’ve got to be motivated by that, but also by that little bit of fear that you need to drive you on. It’s constant praise and plaudits at the moment, which is all good, but you know that can turn very quickly if you don’t focus as much as we have been doing.

“This is a fixture we’ve looked at and thought we have to deliver, we have to be on it.”
