BLUE SQUARE NORTH: Magnificent Guiseley inflicted a first league defeat of the season on Hyde, who lost the leadership to Stalybridge Celtic after goals by Lee Ellington and substitute Gavin Allott.

Gavin Rothery had two goal attempts blocked before he set up a chance for Ellington to head the opening goal in the 43rd minute. Referee Anthony Backhouse was taken ill and the second half was delayed until a replacement was found.

Guiseley’s new signing Kevin Gall missed two good chances but with three minutes left Allott made the points safe, shooting home from 12 yards. Delighted manager Steve Kittrick said of third placed Guiseley: “If we can maintain this level of performance for the rest of the season we will be there or thereabouts.”

Two goals by Dan Gardner, including a controversial penalty, sentenced Halifax Town to a 2-1 defeat at Droylsden.

Winger James Marwood, recalled to the Halifax side, was prominent in the first half but all three goals came in a 14-minute spell, starting just before the hour. Gardner opened the scoring from just outside the area before Lee Gregory met Ryan Toulson’s measured cross to head an equaliser.

Tom Baker headed out a cross but the referee ruled that he had followed through with an arm and Gardner netted Droylsden’s 71st winner from the penalty spot.

Injury-hit Harrogate went down 3-2 to a goal in stoppage time at Worcester City.

After a bright start, Harrogate fell behind after 20 minutes when Luke Corbett shot past Jones.

The first action of the second half saw Jonny Allan chest in Radcliffe’s centre to equalise.

Mike Symons soon forced in a rebound off the bar to restore Worcester’s lead.

Harrogate’s Luke Dean levelled with 15 minutes left when he coolly shot past Dormand.

In an explosive finale, Jones was dismissed for a foul on Corbett but the resulting penalty was saved by Paul Heckingbottom.

Matt Birley drove in a low shot in stoppage time to deny Harrogate a point.
