The result and performance will buoy the Lions as they seek to stay in the National League.

The hosts were quickly 1-0 up, Oli Johnson – who recently returned from injury – working his way into the area and firing home a powerful low strike.

It was soon 2-0 when Will Hatfield carved open the away side’s defence and found Adam Boyes, who curled in his shot.

While Wrexham were dangerous on the break, they could not handle Boyes and he fired in an unstoppable shot from just outside the area to make it 3-0 to Guiseley.

It was the best 45 minutes of football Guiseley have played all season and they could have added to their lead, Hatfield just wide with an effort from outside the area.

Wrexham applied pressure after the break, but Guiseley defended well, Shaun Newton’s goal from Wrexham only a mild irritant.

FC Halifax Town remain deep in relegation trouble after going down 1-0 away to fellow strugglers Kidderminster.

A goal from the impressive Ben Whitfield was enough to secure the points and delay Harriers’ seemingly inevitable drop into the Vanarama Conference North.

But the visitors also had Sam Johnson to thank for keeping them in the game with the former Port Vale youngster saving a second-half penalty.

The home side broke the deadlock shortly after the interval.

A brilliant 50-yard pass from Lewis Kinsella picked out Whitfield on the left-hand side of the area.

His first touch took him past James Bolton before he drilled his shot powerfully between Johnson and his near post for the game’s only goal.
