Guiseley straight back on track

Guiseley put the disappointment of their play-off final defeat by AFC Telford behind them with a 3-0 win over Hinckley.

The victory would have been even more emphatic had it not been for inspired goalkeeping by Dan Haystead.

After Danny Ellis hit a post, Danny Boshell chipped Haystead to open the scoring in the 31st minute. Ciaran Toner found the top corner from 18 yards with four minutes left and there was time for substitute Gavin Allott to grab a third with a far post header.

Neil Aspin’s promoted FC Halifax Town crashed to a 3-1 home defeat against Corby. After a goalless first half, Liam Hogan’s own-goal handed the visitors the lead. Danny Holland equalised a minute later but late goals by Chris Smith and Sam Ives condemned Halifax to defeat.

Harrogate Town opened with a 3-2 home win over Altrincham.

Harrogate survived an opening blitz then took a 12th-minute lead as Paul Brayson scored from the spot after Laurie Wilson had been fouled.

Twenty minutes later, Brayson made it two from Michael Tait’s centre.

Michael Twiss struck back on the hour.

Tait was shown a red card for a foul on Clee, then a fine individual goal by Damian Reeves levelled the scores. Wilson’s penalty in stoppage time, after Hassan had been pulled back, gave Harrogate victory.
