Guiseley v North Ferriby: Villagers confident of causing Nethermoor shock

The respective recent form of the two combatants in today's all-Yorkshire encounter could not be more contrasting but North Ferriby United manager Steve Housham insists his side will travel to Guiseley full of confidence.

The Villagers prop up the table after losing six of their last seven games, while Adam Lockwood’s Lions recently moved out of the relegation zone for the first time all season.

Guiseley have taken 22 points from their last 12 games but Housham is adamant his side can spring a shock at Nethermoor.

“We are going to go in confident against them,” he said. “We are not a million miles away from what we need to win games.

“Guiseley will be up to the challenge, too. All I can is ask the players to keep giving their best.”

Danny Emerton could return after sitting out the midweek defeat to leaders – and FA Cup heroes - Lincoln City.

If the table was based upon results since the start of October, then the Lions would occupy a place in the top ten.

After last weekend’s Jordan Preston-inspired victory at high-flying Dagenham, the Lions return to Nethermoor seeking a third successive win at this level for the first time.

Lockwood, whose side are defending an impressive 10-match unbeaten league sequence at home, said: “People do make it harder for us (now) and I am asking the guys to step up to the plate.

“We know what we have got in our changing room and squad as a whole and they thrive on that (pressure) in there and you can see it when you look in their eyes. They are enjoying the challenges and that is good.

“It is great to be manager of a group of lads like that.”
