Altrincham v FC Halifax: Shaymen must start to close gap

FC HALIFAX Town head to Altrincham looking to not only avenge a rare home defeat this season but also get their fading play-off challenge back on track.

The Shaymen have slipped to ninth on the back of a six-game run that has featured five draws and a defeat.

A place in the top five is by no means out of reach with just seven points separating Forest Green Rovers from Halifax, who also have two games in hand, but the Yorkshire side have to start winning and soon.

“Our performances against Altrincham have been poor,” admitted manager Neil Aspin, whose side lost 3-1 at home to today’s opponents.

“No one knows that more than me. They were the only team to beat us twice in the year we got promotion and we lost to them this year at home.

“It was very disappointing but you can’t underestimate anyone in this league, it will be a very difficult game. We need to be better, though.”
