Aspin looking for positive approach

CONFERENCE: Neil Aspin has urged his FC Halifax Town side to take the game to Gateshead today and start the new year as they ended 2013.

The Shaymen signed off in style last Saturday with a 5-1 demolition of Lincoln City, a result that lifted the part-timers up to sixth.

Following on from the Boxing Day draw against today’s opponents in the North East, it consolidated Halifax’s impressive start to life back in the top tier of non-League football.

Aspin said: “I think the point we got at Gateshead set us up for Lincoln. It was a good point, but this is a different game on a different surface and we have to be positive to try and win the game.”

Top scorer Lee Gregory will again lead the line after netting on his return from injury against Lincoln after a spell out injured.

Aspin has no further fresh injury problems following the festive double header, meaning Halifax will be missing just long-term absentees Danny Lowe and Ryan Toulson.

Victory today could see Halifax, promoted in May, move into the play-off places.
