FC Halifax Town v Bristol Rovers: Aspin believes the pressure is eased

Without a win in four games, FC Halifax Town could hardly face a tougher double-header than what the next four days will bring.

Leaders Bristol Rovers will today head to The Shay smarting from last weekend bringing the end to a 20-game unbeaten run in the Conference.

Then, on Tuesday, second-placed Barnet – two points behind the Pirates but with a game in hand – take on Neil Aspin’s side in West Yorkshire.

Halifax need a win or two of their own to get a faltering play-off push back on track and Aspin admits the pressure being on the opposition for once could be a major plus.

He said: “I am looking forward to the game but I feel the pressure is off us a little bit. Bristol Rovers are fancied to win and the boot is on the other foot for a change at home.

“You only have to look at their record. They lost on Saturday (at home to Eastleigh) but I think they were unbeaten in about 20 games.

“That shows you they are difficult to beat. They don’t concede many goals and they don’t lose many games. They have drawn a few but they will be very hard to beat.”

Halifax are seventh in the Conference, eight points off fifth-placed Forest Green Rovers with three games in hand.
