Halifax warned of Braintree threat

Kevin Roberts is expecting another tight contest between FC Halifax Town and Braintree today.

There was little between the two clubs last season, with the Shaymen finishing fifth - just one place and three points above the Essex club.

Halifax may have won the race for the final play-off place but in the two games between the clubs, Braintree gained the upper hand with a 1-0 win at home and a goalless draw at The Shay.

Roberts said: “Braintree had a really good season last season and they will be looking to carry that on. They are always a tough physical side to play against and one of those sides that if you are not on your game, you will get turned over.

“Everyone has got to have their heads on and make sure you give 100 per cent, otherwise we will come away with no points.”

Halifax travel south buoyed by last weekend’s 5-0 thumping of Telford, a result that took Neil Aspin’s side up to third in the table.

Roberts added: “Everyone is in a good place at the minute after winning 5-0. But we are not going to get too carried away, as its just three points. I think the lads are just looking to go on another run now, like we did at the start of the season.”
