Macclesfield Town 2 FC Halifax Town 2: Aspin rues failure to convert chances
Halifax raced into a two-goal lead at Moss Rose through Lee Gregory’s fourth in as many games and Kevin Holsgrove.
The hosts got a goal back from Scott Boden before substitute Connor Jennings was sent-off before the break.

Aspin said: “From the position we were in, we should have got the three points.
“They were doing all the things I wanted in the first 25 minutes, playing to a pattern that’s effective, and we got our rewards for that.
“We had good chances, we should have scored, we should have put the game away. When you’re leading by one goal it keeps the opposition in the game and you need to get that next goal.
“If you don’t take your chances you get punished.”

Hide AdGregory was perfectly placed to nod in Marc Roberts’s header across the area as Halifax took a lead, which was doubled shortly afterwards when Holsgrove capped a delightful move by stroking home Josh Wilson’s cross from Gregory’s through ball.
A sloppy back pass by Ryan Toulson let in Peter Winn, whose shot was saved by Matt Glennon, who had come out of his goal and parried the ball straight to Boden, who headed in.
Jennings’s red card for a headbutt on Matt Pearson allowed Halifax to take an even greater stranglehold on the game. Gregory saw a header cleared off the line before substitute Alex Johnson’s header hit the post.
Mackreth then drove the ball home to rescue a point from Arthur Gnahoua’s cross.
