Harrogate have made four signings since beating Notts County 3-1 in the National League play-off final at Wembley.

Kevin Lokko, Tom Walker, Connor Kirby and Jake Lawlor have joined the North Yorkshire club and Weaver would still like to add a left-back and a centre-forward to his ranks.

Harrogate kick off their 2020-21 campaign with a Carabao Cup contest against Tranmere Rovers on September 5 and face Southend United in their League Two opener a week later.

“Possibly two more players, if we are lucky and land on the right ones,” said Weaver of Harrogate’s transfer plans.

“We are looking at left full-back and centre-forward, ideally, to complement the lads we have already got.

“There is a real buzz about training and I think that is heightened by what has been achieved and there are already new players on board.

“Everyone has got that freshness and there is a good edge to it.”

Harrogate beat Middlesbrough Under-23s 2-0 in their first pre-season outing on Friday, with Josh Falkingham and Jack Muldoon finding the net in the first half.

Harrogate travel to Brighouse Town tomorrow night - when a limited number of fans will be allowed to attend - and Weaver is hoping to use the fixtures to get his new players integrated as quickly as possible.

“We want to get through the games unscathed,” added the Harrogate manager.

“Over the next two games we want to get the new lads integrated properly and up to speed.

“Our game is about high tempo, high tempo pressing, athleticism, working hard for each other, covering round each other when we haven’t got the ball and being in support of each other with and without the ball.

“You can only do that with loads of energy. The new lads haven’t played for months so we are looking for them to top up their fitness levels and just get accustomed to our way of playing.”
