Harry Maguire is good enough for England, says Hull City boss Marco Silva

HULL CITY defender Harry Maguire has been backed for an England call-up by Tigers head coach Marco Silva.

The former Sheffield United centre-half has produced a string of outstanding performances so far this new year and has earned plaudits from several leading pundits and media commentators.

His form has marked him out as one of the in-form Premier League defenders over the past few months - catching the eye against the likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.

It has led to talk that the Sheffielder could come into the reckoning for an England elevation and Silva believes it is a case of when not if.

Silva said: “Of course it is not my decision but I hope (he will get the chance).

“What I have seen in Harry in the last two months, he will play as soon as possible for the national team. I’ve seen good skills in him for that.

“He has fantastic character. I’m sure he’ll have a great career.”
