The Ajax loanee directed a brilliant header into the top corner on the hour mark as the Terriers came from a goal down to share the points with Luton Town.

The goal was just reward for Carlos Corberan's side, who had created plenty and looked to get on the front foot since falling behind to George Moncur's 21st-minute opener.

Luton had won 1-0 on each of their three previous trips to Yorkshire this season but would have been happy to leave the John Smith's Stadium with a point.

The Hatters last trip to this part of West Yorkshire saw them come away 2-0 victors with both sides in danger of relegation in the latter stages of the 2019-20 season.

Given their performances under Carlos Corberan this term, it would be a surprise to see the Terriers fighting for their Championship status for a second-straight season.

They had lost their last two matches on home soil. Giving up a 1-0 lead in both games to lose 2-1.

In recent seasons, when Huddersfield go behind they usually end up with nothing but this was the second time this campaign they had come from behind to earn something.

Christopher Schindler dropped to the bench in place of Eiting as Carlos Corberan changed from the 3-4-3 formation he used in the 2-1 defeat to Bristol City on Tuesday night.

The Huddersfield manager went with four defenders in a 4-3-3 as Isaac Mbenza made way for Adama Diakhaby in the front three.

Luton's opener came as a header back across goal was met emphatically by George Mocur who sidefooted the ball firmly past Ben Hamer.

The Hatters had been the better side in the opening quarter but the Terriers soon started to threaten but despite handful of chances following the goal, they could not make them count.

A mistake in defence from Luton gave Lewis O'Brien space to exploit but he sliced his effort well wide from the edge of the area.

Josh Koroma was then fed the ball inside the penalty area but rushed his shot which made it an easy save for Simon Sluga.

The Luton goalkeeper was again called into action just before half time when he got down low to tip Diakhaby's deflected effort behind for a corner.

It had been a fiercely-contested first-half with Luton receiving two yellow cards while Koroma was booked for the home side.

Luton had started the day ahead of Huddersfield in the table but the chances kept coming for the Terriers after the interval.

Koroma was causing the Hatters all sorts of problems and came close with a header which dropped onto the roof of the net.

Huddersfield's dominance and persistence was finally rewarded when Harry Toffolo stood the ball up for Eiting who did brilliantly to direct his header into the top corner and out of Sluga's reach.

Koroma continued to impress as he beat Sonny Bradley for pace to latch onto a ball from O'Brien before taking it past the Luton captain only to have a dangerous cross diverted behind.

Hamer had to be alert deep into the contest when he punched a corner clear despite being crowded out by a host of visiting players.

Six minutes of time were added on but neither side was able to create the game-winning chance.
