Huddersfield Town: Blackburn Rovers closing in on Rhodes deal

HUDDERSFIELD Town’s star striker Jordan Rhodes was last night edging closer to an £8m switch to Championship rivals Blackburn Rovers.

Town were remaining tight-lipped about a possible move for the 22-year-old Scottish international marksman.

But sources in Lancashire claimed he will become a Rovers player today subject to passing a medical, and say a fee has been agreed.

Blackburn’s summer interest in Rhodes seemed to have cooled when they said they would not be held to ransom by Town over a fee.

But they are reportedly paying £3m up front for the Scottish international who scored 40 goals last season, with the remaining £5m spread over four years.

Manager Simon Grayson’s return to former side Blackpool with Town has been put back two days and will be screened live on Sky Sports on Monday, September 24 (7.45pm).

Striker Jimmy Spencer has agreed a new one-year contract.
