The Chelsea loanee limped out of last weekend’s derby win over Leeds United with a recurrence of the injury that had previously seen him return to Stamford Bridge for treatment.

A scan has this week revealed the extent of the injury and Palmer is not expected to return again until after next month’s international break.

Head coach David Wagner said: “It hurts Kasey and ourselves, of course. But injuries are part of the game and you have to handle them.”

Isaiah Brown, also on loan from Chelsea, is likely to replace Palmer in the starting line-up after netting three times in his first six appearances for Town.
