The 32-year-old has been with the Terriers since 2013 and has made over 250 appearances for the club. He was named Players' Player of the Year during Huddersfield's successful promotion campaign in 2016-17.

The former Aston Villa and Watford player signed a renewed deal two seasons ago but his current contract is set to expire at the end of this season.

Hogg has featured regularly for the club this term, playing in 22 of the side's 23 Championship fixtures and in the Terriers' only League Cup outing this term.

"The club started, some weeks ago, some conversations and Hogg is one player for me who represents the values of this club and someone we want to have here," confirmed head coach Carlos Corberan.

Corberan is keen to strengthen at centre-back with Christopher Schindler and Richard Stearman both sidelined by injury.

He had also been keen to bolster his options out wide during this transfer window and this week landed long-term target Rolando Aarons.

"We know that we lost Stearman and Schindler, which is two of our four centre-backs," he added.

"That is going to affect every club but fortunately Rarmani Edmonds-Green came in and played when both those players were injured.

"Hogg has played in there as well but we know how important he is in the middle of the pitch for this team."

Plymouth Argyle visit in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday evening with both clubs reporting zero positive cases of Covid-19 following this week's round of testing.
