The Terriers 2-0 defeat at home to Luton Town on Friday night made it three games without a goal for Danny Cowley's side.

On-loan Arsenal player Emile Smith-Rowe had the only chance of note for the home side when he fired wide from inside the penalty area with the hosts a goal behind.

Huddersfield had tightened up defensively in their previous three outings, with Sonny Bradley's second-half header and Elliot Lee's thunderous finish for Luton the first goals the Terriers had conceded in over 300 minutes of action.

"It is something we need to improve on, you can't win games if you don't put the ball in the back of the net," said Toffolo of Town's attacking play.

"It is three games without a goal but we are working on it and making sure we do the right preparation.

"We have got to put the ball in the box more. If we don't do that with enough quality we can't expect the strikers to score goals.

"We know it wasn't good enough but to be honest I am sick of saying that."

The defeat dragged Huddersfield back into the heart of the relegation battle and results elsewhere this weekend could see them drop back into the bottom three.

The 50-point mark is the current aim for Town as they hope to remain the division, although Toffolo feels they may need more than that.

"It felt like it was an evenly-matched game in the first half, neither side created many chances or gave away many chances," he said.

"When you concede a goal from a set piece at a crucial point in the game, it is gutting. I am not going to beat around the bush, it is not good enough.

"We know we were sub-par against a team below us and we know we need to be winning these games.

"But we have got Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday, so we can't get too down. There will be a lot of thinking done.

"There are three games left, three winnable games to get the 50 points that we need, although I think it could possibly be more than that."

Sheffield Wednesday travel to QPR this afternoon, giving Huddersfield an extra day to prepare for Tuesday evening's fixture at Hillsborough.

He added: "When we came into this game we didn't want to be in this position at the end of it but we have another game on Tuesday and an extra day of recovery on Sheffield Wednesday.

"We have got to use that to our advantage, there are three massive games to go."
