Huddersfield Town use Joel Lynch exit to snap up German defender Chris Schindler in record deal
The 26-year-old former 1860 Munich captain has signed a three-year deal with an option of a further 12 months with Town, who have recouped significant funds back from the sale of Joel Lynch to QPR for an undisclosed fee - which is thought to rise to £1.5m.
On his move, the 6ft 2in centre-back Schindler, a former Germany Under-21 international, said: “I’m looking forward to a great adventure and to the challenges which lie ahead, but my job is to stop opponents scoring goals and that is my main focus.

“I have many good memories of my time at 1860 – I am sad to leave because I can say it is ‘my’ club – but I am keen to develop and adapt to the football here in England as well as having the life experience for me and my family.”
Schindler is Town’s fourth signing from Germany - with FC Kaiserlautern full-back Chris Lowe and Dynamo Dresden stopper Michael Hefele having earlier arrived along with loan forward Elias Kachunga from FC Ingolstadt.
“He (Schindler) is good in the aerial challenge and is a very composed player, who is great at reading the game,” he said.
“A big part of our decision to allow Joel Lynch to join Queens Park Rangers was the availability of Christopher.”
