Huddersfield Town v Brentford: Raw talent Lolley is hoping for Town call

WITH just a solitary point to show for their efforts in the last four games, Huddersfield Town could have done without the sudden flurry of injuries that have hit the club.

Manager Chris Powell, however, insists there is no sense of panic at the John Smith’s Stadium as the Terriers, who slipped five places to 19th last weekend, look to extend their unbeaten run on home soil to seven games.

The Town chief said: “We need a win, and the table doesn’t lie. But there is certainly no sense of panic. I believe in the group of players I have.

“We have been creating chances, but clearly we must start putting them away and we have players who can do that.

“I have been happy with our home form and it is something we can hold onto. We need to keep that going because home form is important.”

Town are expected to be without Joel Lynch today after the central defender was forced out of the loss at Bolton a week ago with a groin problem.

He has been unable to train outdoors this week and if, as expected, he misses out it will be the first time in 15 matches that Mark Hudson has had a different partner at the heart of the defence.

Murray Wallace is expected to step in, though Lee Peltier and Anthony Gerrard are also vying for a call-up.

Powell is also without Harry Bunn and Joe Murphy for the visit of the in-form Bees, with the former’s absence possibly creating an opening for Joe Lolley.

On the capture from Kidderminster Harriers, who has been dogged by injury problems this term, the Huddersfield manager said: “He is a real raw talent and very quick.

“He needs to understand the game and role of a pro. He has been thrown in. But, equally, you don’t want to lose the off-the-cuff style of play but we are getting there with him. That is really pleasing.”

Town have lost just once in seven home games under Powell, who added: “We know we can produce the kind of performances required at this level – we did it against Nottingham Forest (beaten 3-0 at the start of November).

“Our home form has been good so let’s keep it going.”

Sean Scannell (thigh) is again expected to be fit.
