Huddersfield Town v Cardiff: Hudson focus on Town as the Bluebirds call

The Huddersfield Town captain spent five years with the Bluebirds before moving to Yorkshire shortly before the summer transfer window closed last year.

He made 165 appearances for Cardiff and was part of the side that brought Premier League football to the Welsh capital for the first time. Hudson also played in the 2010 Championship play-off final and the League Cup final two years later.

“I do wish them (Cardiff) all the best because I enjoyed my time there,” said Hudson. “But my main focus is to see Huddersfield do as well as we can. I don’t have a point to prove (today).”

Hudson quickly became a mainstay of the Terriers’ defence following his arrival on September 1. His debut followed 13 days later at home to Middlesbrough and the 32-year-old has since gone on to start 27 consecutive games for Town.

“I am really enjoying it,” said Hudson of his move. “My family is settled up here, which is a big thing for me. I really wanted my kids and wife to be here with me day-to-day so I can be involved in their lives.

“I am also really enjoying leading this team as captain. It is a different experience for me to lead a young side, day-to-day.

“But I am really enjoying working with them and, hopefully, they’re bringing the best out of me as well. I am still learning things every day at nearly 33.”

On being a regular at Town after making just two appearances in the Premier League, Hudson added: “I am playing week-in, week-out and, barring a few results, I think we have done well.

“We are a young side. It is a learning curve for us, but, hopefully, we are on the up on that curve. I think we grew up as a group in the 1-1 draw at Bournemouth last Saturday.”
