Huddersfield Town v Hartlepool United: Prove you’re the best Grayson tells Town

SIMON GRAYSON has called on Huddersfield Town to justify his belief that they are the best team in League One.

Charlton Athletic lead the way in the third tier after a wonderful season and appear nailed on to clinch the title due to being 13 points clear of nearest rivals Sheffield United.

Despite that, Grayson is adamant his new charges are, man for man, the best outfit in the division. Or at least they are once the needless mistakes that have dogged Town in their last two outings can be cut out.

The Huddersfield chief, who has seen his side squander two and three-goal leads to draw against Stevenage and Bury in the last week, said: “On our day, we are the best team in the division.

“The statistics prove that Charlton are but I genuinely believe that player for player we are the best team. However, we need to go and show that on a more regular basis.”

On the need to bounce back from the disappointing 3-3 draw at Bury, Grayson added: “It is good to have a game so quickly as it gives us a chance to put things to bed.

“We have got two home games on the bounce, which are difficult but winnable. We can try and be positive and say we have picked up five points from nine but it should be nine from nine.”

Danny Ward expects to be fit after suffering cramp at Gigg Lane, while Peter Clarke could be in contention after recovering from a groin operation. If the Town captain does not make it, however, he will play in a behind closed doors friendly tomorrow.
