Huddersfield Town v Reading: Terriers called on to repeat Derby display

The German is still, relatively speaking, in the early stages of his Football League adventure, but is confident that Huddersfield Town’s overall progress since his arrival is pronounced with their performances, in the main, having been consistently strong.

In the view of many, Town’s haul of points since Wagner’s arrival as head coach has not matched what they have deserved with commendable performances, no points in the recent losses to Derby County and Ipswich Town being a case in point.

For his part, Wagner is remaining calm and has been enthused by much of what he has seen since arriving and is urging his side to stick to their principles ahead of the club’s fourth meeting with Reading this season.

He said: “First of all, it has to be our first target to repeat the Derby performance, but to make a next step in the right direction.

“We have to be focused on the very important things: ourselves and our performance.

“We must make sure we bring our performance on the pitch, our identity and make everyone see we are investing everything to get the three points. If we do this, I’m confident we will show the right reaction at full-time.”

Town are reportedly in talks with Wolves over signing winger Rajiv van La Parra on loan.
