Huddersfield Town want Kian Harratt to start next season with them after successful loan at Harrogate Town

Having helped them to get there, Kian Harratt is unlikely to be involved in Harrogate Town's Football League debut, with Huddersfield Town keen to have their loanee back at Canalside for the start of the new season.

Harratt, an 18-year-old striker based in Barnsley, was Huddersfield's academy player of the season for 2019-20, despite having spent the second half of the campaign on loan at Wetherby Road.

With the Terriers keen to go down a more youthful route under new head coach Carlos Corberan, Harratt has been earmarked for involvement in what the Spaniard sees as a 30-man squad.

"The next step for Kian will be to spend some time around the club," said academy manager Emyr Humphreys.

"Over the last six months he has spent quite a lot of time away from the club with Harrogate.

"It's been an unbelievable experience for him with getting to Wembley, even though I know he will be annoyed not to have got on in the (Conference) play-off final.

"But even to be around that was great experience and now he has had a look at that dressing room, with a different manager and first team, the next step for him will be to spend more time close to our building."

Harratt made seven appearances on loan at Harrogate, scoring once, and although the Terriers extended his loan to allow him to feature in the play-offs, he was an unused substitute in both matches. The Sulphurites won promotion without him, and are set to play in the Football League for the first time in their 106-year history on September 12.

This season's domestic transfer window will stay open until October 16, so Harratt could return by then if Corberan decides it would be best for his development. He is highly rated at Huddersfield, however, having made his only senior appearance for the club as a substitute against Leeds United in December.

"Kian is just so hungry to train, he is desperate to score all the time and he's just an absolute dream to work with to be honest," said Humphreys.

The Terriers have replaced their development side with an open-age B team this year, and the plan is for the squads to train alongside one another at their Canalside complex to help movement between them.
