Hull City and Huddersfield Town offer cheapest options to fans in Premier League and Championship

According to the the latest BBC Price of Football figures, Hull offer the cheapest season ticket in the top division at £252.

The figure if also less expensive than 88 per cent of clubs in the Championship, where Huddersfield Town offer the best matchday value to supporters.

The cost of attending Premier League football matches has also come down this season with some away ticket prices now cheaper than in the Championship.

Across the top flight, 33 per cent of ticket prices have been reduced in 2016-17 – the first season of a record £5.316bn TV deal – with 53 per cent frozen at previous levels.

The average cost of the dearest away ticket is £29.44, a reduction of 37 per cent from £46.44. This drop is mainly due to an agreement among clubs to cap prices at £30. The equivalent price in the Championship is £31.57, an increase of five per cent on last year.

Along with Liverpool, Hull also offer the joint-cheapest matchday ticket in the division at £9. The most expensive, £97, is at Arsenal but this price has not increased since 2014.

Supporters at both Hull and Liverpool staged protests over some ticketing issues last season but those clubs, along with Manchester City, reduced their cheapest match-day prices.

Huddersfield provide the lowest matchday ticket price in the Championship at £15 (only matched by Birmingham City) and is set to drop even lower with the visit of Wigan Athletic later this month.

The Terriers also offer the cheapest season-ticket price, only matched by Wigan Athletic.

Leeds United have the most expensive lowest priced match day ticket alongside Ipswich Town at £30.
