Hull City hoping for third time lucky against Arsenal

Hull manager Steve Bruce is sick of the sight of Arsenal - but it is the thought of a fourth FA Cup clash with them in less than two years that really sticks in his craw.

Saturday will see the Tigers go head-to-head with the north Londoners in the competition for the third successive season.

Last term the Gunners knocked Bruce’s men out at the third-round juncture, just months after denying Hull their first ever major trophy with a 3-2 comeback win in the FA Cup final.

Fate has pitted the teams against one another again this season, with the Sky Bet Championship leaders heading to the capital on Saturday hoping to make it third time lucky in this fifth-round tie.

“We could’ve picked an easier one, couldn’t we?” boss Bruce said, with a laugh.

“The odds are just ridiculous but when there was four, five, six balls left when the last draw was made, I think it was written in the stars again that we were going to go back to the Emirates (Stadium).

“It could’ve been a bit kinder to us but whenever you go and play Arsenal and go to the Emirates, then it’s a fabulous occasion, a big cup tie and let’s go and enjoy it and see what we can do.”
