The 25-year-old Dundalk player has become the club's first signing of the January transfer window, with his contract running until the summer of 2022, with the club holding an option of a further year.

Attacking midfielder Flores won the League of Ireland Premier Division and League Cup double with Dundalk back in 2019.

He scored seven goals in 41 appearances for the Lilywhites, including a sensational left- footed volley against Shamrock Rovers which was nominated for the 2020 FIFA Puskas Award.

The attacking midfielder also netted against Arsenal in this season’s Europa League and won Wigan Athletic’s Goal of the Season accolade back in 2015-16 – his first career goal.

Flores started his career at hometown club Wigan and won promotion from League Two while on loan with Blackpool in 2016/17.

He had temporary spells at Chesterfield, Fylde and Swedish club Ostersund prior to moving to Dundalk in 2019.

McCann said: “We’re really pleased. Jordan will bring good balance to the team, being left footed.

“He’s different to what we’ve already got in midfield and will provide good competition for places.

“He can score a screamer and shoot from distance with his left foot and right foot. He can open up things and see passes. He is very good in terms of putting forwards in.

“We’re bringing him in for his creativity and he’s quite versatile in the way he plays. He’s a really good character and an excellent lad in how he goes about his business.”
