Blackwell latest to be linked to Hull City job

HULL CITY vice chairman Ehab Allan insists the Championship season having just ended means the club have a bit of breathing space in the search for a new manager as Kevin Blackwell becomes the latest to be linked with the post.

Nick Barmby’s sacking eight days ago has led to a host of names being put forward as possible successors with Billy Davies last week touted as the favourite by the bookmakers amid interest in the post from Lee Clark, Gary Megson, Mick McCarthy and Greg Abbott.

However, it is understood the former Nottingham Forest manager is not being considered as a replacement for Barmby, who left after a fall-out with the City board.

Vice chairman Allam said: “We are at the start of the off-season, so there’s a bit of time for us and we don’t have to rush into anything.”

Blackwell, who has twice led teams to the Championship play-off final, was last employed by Sheffield United but left just a week into the 2010-11 season.
