former boss barmby settles with owners

HULL CITY and former manager Nick Barmby have resolved the differences that led to the former England international’s sacking in May.

Barmby was suspended and then sacked by owners, Assem and Ehab Allam, after a series of media interviews in which he spoke about transfer budgets.

At the time, the Allams claimed that Barmby’s comments had been “wholly misleading” and implied that funds had indeed been available for strengthening in January.

The sacking became the subject of legal action on the part of Barmby, but this week’s agreement between the two parties now means that has been brought to a close.

Yesterday’s statement was issued jointly by the Tigers and the League Managers Association, who had represented Barmby.

“Nick Barmby left the Club following comments made to the media about the Club’s transfer policy,” said the statement.

“Nick accepts that his comments could have been misconstrued.

“The club now accepts that Nick Barmby did not in any of his interviews with the media have any intention of disparaging the Club or its owners.”

Neither Barmby nor the Allams made any further comment to a statement that made no reference as to whether Barmby has received any financial compensation for his dismissal.
