If all goes well, Lewis-Potter, 19, who the club are in talks with regarding a new deal, could be involved in Tuesday’s Papa John’s Trophy game against Grimsby.

McCann, whose young defender Jacob Greaves has signed a new three-year deal with the option of a further year, said: “He (Keane) has a great attitude and wants to learn and get better. He is just a goalscorer and loves scoring goals and sniffing out opportunities.

“We have not seen Keane for a few days as he is isolating, but in training, you can just see him wanting to improve in his game.

“He is a humble kid who will go far in the game because of his attitude and the way he presents himself on an everyday level.

“We are delighted to have him.’
