The Tigers remain three points behind their opponents having played a game more.

The Tigers were unfortunate not to be ahead inside 30 seconds. Keane Lewis-Potter, however, saw his shot deflect off Adam Jackson onto the crossbar and bounce to safety.

Lincoln’s Conor McGrandles was booked for a poor challenge on Josh Magennis midway through the first half, before Lewie Coyle lashed over from 35 yards following Greg Docherty’s resulting free kick.

Hull continued to press, but Reece Burke headed just over from Callum Elder’s free kick, and Lewis-Potter saw another shot deflect – this time behind for a corner.

In a rare foray forward Lincoln almost led against the run of play on the stroke of half-time as Tom Hopper capitalised on a defensive mix-up, but Burke recovered just in time to clear.

Lincoln enjoyed a spell of possession after the break without creating any clear-cut openings, whilst the Tigers went close as Docherty drilled a shot just wide on the hour.

Michael Appleton soon replaced both full-backs in a bid to freshen things up for the visitors, but a succession of corners came to nothing before James Jones wasted an opportunity on the break.

Another Lincoln break saw Brennan Johnson’s fierce strike beaten away by Matt Ingham, and at the other end Lewis-Potter’s shot on the turn from 10 yards out flew just over. As time ticked on Lincoln had the better of the play in terms of possession, but the game ended in stalemate.
