Vice-chairman Ehab Allam is understood to have held “constructive” discussions with representatives of the interested party over the weekend - who spent time in East Yorkshire and viewed the club’s facilities.

The Tigers - who play host to Derby County in the second leg of their Championship play-off semi-final on Tuesday night - have previously been linked with consortia from America and China over the past year.

Hull have been up for sale since the autumn of 2014 after the Football Association turned down owner Assem Allam’s request to controversially change the club’s name to Hull Tigers.

Last September, Allam revealed that he has received several offers for the club, but stated that none of them have met his standards.

The Egyptian-born businessman took over the club in December 2010 and is understood to have put around £190m of his own money into the Tigers during that time.

Allam has broken Hull’s transfer record on four occasions since taking charge of the club in 2010, the most recent being the reported £10m paid for Uruguay striker Abel Hernandez in September 2014.

Back in 2014, the Allam family was ranked 295th in the UK on the Sunday Times Rich List with an estimated worth of £320m.
