The Tigers, who travel to Belgium to face Lokeren tomorrow (Aug 21) in a Europa League first-leg qualifying play-off, are reeling at the news that the Scottish international will be sidelined for most of the season after he dislocated his kneecap in his Premier League debut for the East Yorkshiremen at QPR on Saturday.

Snodgrass, who only joined the club for £6m from Norwich City in June, is set to undergo surgery to repair knee ligament damage.

Bruce said: “We’ve lost Robert Snodgrass and the diagnosis is he’ll be gone for six months, which is a big blow for us.

“We have spent a lot of money adding to our midfield area and now we’ve lost Snodgrass for the best part of the season. It’s a tragedy for him and us.”

The winger tweeted: “Gutted....!!! But I will work as hard as I can to come back fitter and stronger.”
