Hull City suspend Nick Barmby

NICK BARMBY has been suspended by Hull City, the Yorkshire Post understands.

The former England international is believed to have left the club following a lunchtime meeting with the Tigers board.

It is understood comments made by Barmby to the media in recent weeks over the need for City to invest in the summer transfer market are behind the shock development with the owners, Assem and Ehab Allam, who have ploughed in more than £50m to keep the Tigers afloat, unhappy at their manager’s views being made public.

It read: “We are aware of the press speculation and we are not in a position to make any comment.”
