Hull have identified Gray, who hit 18 goals in the Bees’ path to the Championship play-offs last term, as the man that want to spearhead a promotion assault.

They saw a initial bid turned down last week by the West London outfit for the pair, who are digging their heels in regarding former Luton Town forward Gray, despite being resigned to losing Odubajo.

Last weekend, the Yorkshire Post revealed that Hull have made a move for the talented Brentford duo, who were influential figures in the 2015-16 campaign.

Hull - whose forward Dame N’Doye is close to joining Trabzonspor for £2.5m - have met a £3.5m release clause regarding Odubayo, who travelled up to the East Riding ahead of an impending transfer on Sunday night.

A separate clause stating that rival clubs had 21 days to better Hull’s offer has now been waived by the Bees, with Odujayo’s move expected to be rubber-stamped shortly.

But Brentford is thought to rate Gray in the £7m to £7.5m bracket, with a £9m bid likely to fall short of their valuation for the duo.

Luton also have a healthy sell-on clause regarding Gray, who left the Hatters for Brentford last summer.

Speaking about the situation with Odubayo yesterday, Brentford boss Marinus Dijkhuizen said that “I think Moses will not be in the squad any more so that’s a big loss for us.

“Hull bid for him last week and he decided for himself that he didn’t want to play in the friendly, he wants to leave. He said it’s a big opportunity for him.

“I expect a Premier League club to bid because he’s a very good player and there aren’t a lot of good right-backs around.”
