Leeds United: Mowatt on radar of Hull City

The 20-year-old was scouted by the Premier League club at Molineux yesterday and caught the eye with a classy strike in Leeds’ 4-3 defeat.

John Rudge, the former Port Vale boss and a member of Hull’s scouting team, was sent by City to watch the game amid widespread interest in Leeds’ core of academy-produced players.

Mowatt’s 20-yard finish - his ninth goal of the season - levelled an enthralling Easter Monday game at 3-3 late in the second half before an 88th-minute header from Dave Edwards earned Wolves three points.

Mowatt signed a three-year deal last season is under contract at Leeds until 2017.

He is one of several United youngsters, along with Lewis Cook, Sam Byram and Charlie Taylor, who are likely to attract interest in the the summer transfer window after impressing at Elland Road this season.

United chairman Andrew Umbers told the BBC last week that the club were not willing to listen to bids for any of the four.

“Our young players are not for sale,” he said. “Contract negotiations are foremost in our mind.”

Cook and Byram have one season remaining on their deals while Taylor, like Mowatt, is tied down until 2017.
