Leicester City 2 Hull City 1: Ten-man Foxes dent Tigers’ play-off hopes

HULL CITY’S play-off bid suffered a damaging setback as Nick Barmby’s men slipped to defeat against ten-man Leicester City.

Two goals in as many minutes during the first half through Lloyd Dyer and Ben Marshall settled the game as Hull lost ground on their promotion rivals.

City had been given a major lift just before the hour when a wild challenge by Neil Danns on Paul McKenna led to referee Nigel Miller brandishing a red card at the Leicester midfielder.

The home side being reduced to ten men should have been the prelude to Hull putting pressure on the Foxes defence.

Instead, however, Leicester looked the more likely to extend their lead as Sol Bamba struck a post and Danny Drinkwater brought a fine save from Vito Mannone.

The closest Hull came to snatching an equaliser came on 64 minutes when Robbie Brady headed an Andy Dawson corner on to a post.
