The 20-year-old, signed from Cork City in August, has impressed the Tigers manager in training.

So, when Lee Clark came calling in midweek about the possible avilability of Lenihan, Bruce had no hesitation in letting the defender go.

Lenihan seems certain to start at Elland Road tomorrow as the bottom placed Seasiders look to claim only their second win of the season.

Bruce said: “He is another who can play in the Championship. He has trained with us for six weeks. The Irish (Lenihan recently joined up with the Republic full squad for the first time) are delighted with him.

“A wonderful experience for him and he has a chance to play. Blackpool had someone sent off in midweek so he has an opportunity and I expect hum to take it.”
