NOTTINGHAM FOREST V HULL CITY: Mannone back as Tigers eye away record

VITO MANNONE will banish a frustrating couple of months today when Hull City head to Nottingham Forest looking to equal a 62-year-old club record.

The Tigers visit the City Ground knowing that a win or draw would see the current crop match the achievements of Raich Carter’s 1948-49 side by making it 13 consecutive games without defeat on the road.

Mannone, the on-loan Arsenal goalkeeper, returns to the side after injury and is determined to help Hull equal the record mark.

He said: “It has been frustrating for me personally and there were times when I would go out on to the training ground just to collect some footballs because I was getting so impatient.

“I am just happy to be back near the team and, hopefully, I can make a contribution.”

Hull last lost away from home at Burnley in September, the 4-0 defeat leaving Nigel Pearson’s men 17th. Mannone added: “To see where we are now is fantastic. Reaching the play-offs would be a big bonus for the fans. Their support has been excellent.”
