Red Devil King heads to Hull in wake of Campbell

NORWEGIAN striker Joshua King has joined Hull City on loan from Manchester United until the end of the season.

King, 20, has spent the first half of the season on loan with German side Borussia Moenchengladbach but made only two substitute appearances.

His arrival evokes memories of striker Frazier Campbell’s successful loan switch from Old Trafford in 2007 which helped bring about the Tigers’ promotion to the Premier League.

Manager Nick Barmby said: “We’re delighted to get Josh in. He can play on the left of a three, the number nine, or on the right of three. That gives us great options.

“He’s very skilful, quick, and really good with the ball. He’s an exciting player who will fit into the way we play.

“It is a very similar situation to when we brought Fraizer here,” Barmby added. “He came in as an unknown quantity but players can make a name for themselves here and use the loan as a platform.”

King, who made his only appearance for Manchester United three years ago in the Carling Cup, is the third loan signing of the transfer window for Hull after goalkeepers Vito Mannone and Trevor Carson joined the Tigers.
