The 33-year-old today agreed a two-and-a-half year deal with Stockholm-based club AIK, dashing Nigel Adkins hopes of persuading the midfielder to stay in the Championship.

Larsson, who will formally complete move when his contract at the KCOM Stadium expires at the end of this month, joins Allan McGregor, David Meyler, Michael Dawson and Abel Hernandez in leaving Hull since the end of last season.

He made 40 appearances for the Tigers and captained the side on what proved to be his last outing, the 1-1 draw at Brentford that brought the curtain down on a pretty miserable 2017-18 campaign for the club.

Better news for Hull, however, comes with Nottingham Forest defender Eric Lichaj understood to be edging closer to completing his own switch to the East Riding.

The 29-year-old USA international is wanted by Adkins and sources in the East Midlands suggest a deal could be completed this week.
