The Scotland international suffered a horrendous injury on his Tigers Premier League debut on the opening day of last season and has not played since.

A dislocated knee, described by manager Bruce in the past as “one of the worst I’ve seen”, left former Leeds United wideman Snodgrass battling to resume his career.

However, after 14 months of rehabilitation, manager Bruce has revealed Snodgrass is ready to step up his attempts to regain full fitness.

The City chief said: “Over the last two weeks, it has been terrific to see him because there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

“It has been a long road back for him but, in himself, you can see that he is now at ease with his knee.

“He now has a knee that looks like a knee - if that makes any sense - and he is out on the training ground and bounding around.

“He is doing a lot, so the next three or four weeks will be about a lot of strengthening work to build up his knee.

“But, at the moment, he is looking terrific. If he keeps progressing like he has done in the last couple of weeks, then we are hoping that maybe by the end of October he’ll be coming back into the pack.”

Snodgrass joined Hull for £7m in the summer of 2014 from Norwich City.
