Transfer round-up and managerial merry-go-round: Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday, Hull City

BARNSLEY are close to sealing a deal to sign Sheffield Wednesday striker Chris O’Grady, with the clubs understood to have agreed a fee in the region of £300,000.

O’Grady is now expected to agree a two-year-deal to join the Reds, subject to personal terms after a second bid for the forward was accepted.

It is likely to end the Reds’ lengthy pursuit to sign O’Grady permanently, with the Nottingham-born player enjoying an impressive loan spell at Oakwell last term when he was one of the heroes of the club’s great escape from relegation.

“We’re discussing personal terms with Chris, so hopefully we can get something sorted this week,” Reds’ director Don Rowing said.

Meanwhile, the Reds have been linked with a potential move for former loan keeper Ross Turnbull, who started his career at Middlesbrough.

The north-easterner is a free agent after leaving Chelsea.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce is expected to hold back on making any firm move for Scottish international goalkeeper Alan McGregor, currently at Turkish side Besiktas.

The Tigers’ main target remains Leicester City custodian Kasper Schmeichel, with Fulham duo David Stockdale and Mark Schwarzer remaining other options.
