Hull's signing Harper out with broken foot

HULL CITY'S new signing James Harper is out for six weeks after breaking a metatarsal in his right foot in Wednesday night's friendly at North Ferriby Road.

The former Sheffield United midfielder, who signed a two-year deal at the KC Stadium earlier this week, suffered the break 27 minutes into Hull's 6-0 victory at Church Road.

Meanwhile, the Tigers have appointed Mark Maguire as the club's new chief executive. Maguire has had two spells as managing director of Stockport County.

Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs have lodged papers in the High Court to appeal the Company Voluntary Agreement with Portsmouth, which could prevent the npower Championship club exiting administration.

The decision to appeal was taken well in advance of last night's deadline and under Football League rules the club, relegated from the Premier League in May, will now stay in administration and under a transfer embargo until an appeal, still to be scheduled, is heard.
